Labour Party activists elected Peter Kyle as their parliamentary candidate for Hove and Portslade in July of 2013. Peter has lived in Hove for fifteen years, and has deep roots into the local communities.
As well as gaining a PhD in community economic development from Sussex University, Peter co-founded a Brighton-based video company named Fat Sand, and has been a Governor at two schools in the City.
In his earlier career he worked as an aid worker in Eastern Europe and the Balkans helping children, and young people who’s lives had been radically affected by the political instability of war.
Peter moved onto work as a policy maker to The Cabinet Office, primarily working on social exclusion. Many of the policies he worked on, such as early intervention, are still relevant today.
In May 2015 Peter was elected MP for Hove & Portslade he has been working hard for everyone in the constituency to ensure fairness for all. He has prioritized job creation, investing in businesses, new housing and ensuring every young person has access to the best education our country can offer.
At Parliament Peter has been serving on the Business Innovation and Skills Select Committee. He was also Chair of the Further Education, and Co-Chair of the Southern Commuter Belt all party group of MP’s.
