Labour South East are proud that South East MP, Anneliese Dodds has been named Shadow Chancellor in Keir Starmer’s first Shadow Cabinet.

About Anneliese

Anneliese Dodds is the Labour and Co-operative Member of Parliament for Oxford East. Anneliese was first elected as a Member of Parliament in June 2017, and has been a shadow Treasury minister since July 2017.

Anneliese lives on Rose Hill in Oxford with her partner Ed and two children Freddie and Isabella. Anneliese represented the South East from 2014 to 2017 as our MEP. In that role, she served on the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, focusing especially on clamping down on tax avoidance by big companies. She was also responsible for tightening rules on financial services, to help prevent any repeat of the global financial crisis. Before becoming an MEP, Anneliese worked for many years as an academic. She also chaired a local debt and welfare advice centre in Oxford.

Speaking about her appointment, Anneliese said:

“I’m delighted to have been appointed as Shadow Chancellor by the new leader of the Labour Party, Keir Starmer. Many thanks to my friend John McDonnell for his determined and passionate leadership as the previous Shadow Chancellor, & to his excellent staff. We must all now pull together in the face of unprecedented economic circumstances. So many people are struggling like never before. Others are serving selflessly to keep public services and supply chains going. I will do all I can to support them.”
