Conservative-run Buckinghamshire Council has confirmed that it will be cutting school bus routes across the county leaving families with no option than to opt-in with a private bus provider to get local kids to school.

The letter also implies that those on less frequented routes will be left with a higher bill. The website states – “there needs to be sufficient demand from parents for seats in order to make the bus routes financially viable to run a bus.” and warns that ‘the companies themselves are responsible for setting ticket prices’.

We, the undersigned, believe all children should have access to safe and reliable transport to their school. We therefore call on Buckinghamshire Council to urgently reconsider the recently announced cuts to paid for bus places and to work together with local providers and parents for a better solution. We would welcome an urgent meeting with council leaders to discuss this matter.
